Global retail & e-commerce brand partnered with Meter to upgrade their HQ, regional offices, retail stores, and distribution centers. Meter worked with the IT infrastructure, networking, and security teams to switch their Meraki hardware and software to Meter.
Project scoping
Work with Customer's Network Engineering team to
understand priorities and desired outcomes. Create proposed
network topology and plan for migrating from existing
hardware.
Pending network configuration information for Phase 1.1
RADIUS shared secret still needed. Also, need 4 ports on the
Aggregator switch for ISP uplink for Meter's equipment (1001,
1002). Otherwise, PSK, RADIUS configuration, and VLAN
configurations are set.
Coordinate install access for Phase 1.1
Badges for Meter team and installer partner for install starting 3/2 at 5PM. Reception available until 4pm, Meter and installers to meet Project Manager at 3PM on Thursday, 3/2. Lift is needed, bring through the loading bay in the back-storage area behind mock store, believe doors are unlocked. Project Manager to take a look when they are on-site on Friday.
Finalized SOW for Phase 1.1
Share detailed work order showing network design, switch patching plan, and proposed rack elevation layout.
Execute Phase 1.1 install
Work to take place 3/2 to 3/5. Change window 3/4 (9am-5pm precleared). Customer testing team on-site 3/5 at 9am on Sunday.
Review config with team
Meter shares the proposed network configuration with the Customer for internal review and feedback.
Technical review session re IPSec configuration
Meter (Marianna, Nilesh, and potentially other engineers) to attend a technical session with Customer to get details about IPsec configuration with either the 8000v or with Aviatrix cloud.
Open ticket for CAB - Change review process
For ticket submitted by 3/15, CAB on 3/23.
Network simulation and testing in lab
Create a simulation of the Customer's network based on topology and configuration. Subject the simulation to continuous testing for optimal performance and security based on the Customer's objectives.
Provide Facilities team with cabling and AP mounting standards
Provide standards on AP mounting, cabling termination on the floor side, rack layout - include Building Manager on emails.
Execute Phase 1.2 cutover
This will take place week of 3/27, likely over the weekend given downtime for things like CCTV, Facilities, Key Card Access; CorpTech testing needed.
Schedule and execute Phase 2 install
Ensure Facilities team mounts Floors 2 & 3 APs as directed; patch- in APs at the IT room. Clean up cabling in the IT room. Review the possibility of having either two dedicated 15A circuits or one dedicated 20A circuit for the networking equipment.
Continuous monitoring and support
Meter continues to provide ongoing support and upgrades.
